How to monitor a website

You can monitor a web site by subscribing specific web services or by setting up your own. You can set-up your own web monitor using the cron-tab tool.

The following features are provided by the tool cron-tab:
  • Perform periodic test of a cron url. Result of the tests are displayed in the View statistics page.
  • Check the status of several links at any time. The status is displayed in the Dashboard page.

An administrator interface is provided to configure properly this tool. This tool shall be installed in the Google App Engine environment, in order to run. Before installing the tool, please perform the following actions: Once you have signed GAE and installed GAE SDK you have to:
  1. unpack all files included in cron-tab.zip into a specific local directory, e.g 'myapp'
  2. upload all files from 'myapp' to google application engine server using the following command from a DOS shell: appcfg.py update myapp
